One château.
A world around it.
From above, you see how everything comes together. The château among the trees, the gate tower beside the bridge and terraces along the water. Beyond them lies the green countryside of Haspengouw.

Still full of life.
Château de la Motte grew from a fortified site into a château surrounded by water and greenery. Cross the bridge and you can see centuries of history side by side.

- 14th century
Medieval roots
Between 1342 and 1367, the de Brouckom family appears in the estate’s history. A fortified residential tower or stronghold stood here at the time.
- 16th century
The gates remain
Under the de Rijckel family, the entrance takes the form of a tower. The old core of the gate tower survives the fire of 1690.
- 1758
A new chapter
Baron de Herckenrode has the château rebuilt and extended. The estate takes shape once more around the water.
- 19th century
The château today
The Ulens family develops the château and landscaped park further. Turrets, stepped gables and Gothic Revival details give the estate its distinctive character.
- 1995–1997
From heritage to hospitality
Following years of vacancy, renovation began in 1995. In 1997, the estate took on a new role in hospitality. Today, people gather here to dine, celebrate and enjoy life.
